October 16, 2009 @ 07:26 AM -- by Dr. Sutton Graham

Blepharoplasty is the medical term for a procedure often called eyelid tuck or eyelift. According to 2008 national statistics from the ASPS, eyelid cosmetic surgery was the most common facial surgery (followed by facelift, browlift). http://www.plasticsurgery.org/Media/Press_Kits/Procedural_Statistics.html

Similarly, in our practice in upstate South Carolina, eyelid is most common. It is performed as a single procedure or in combination with facelift or browlift, or other procedures. Many things are happening so far this month:

LATISSE was introduced by Allergan Corp. (think BotoxCosmetic and Juvaderm filler). Latisse is an FDA approved prescription for enhancing eyelashes. In their studies, after two months use, the majority of patients saw fuller, longer eyelashes. It is applied with sterile, single use brushes nightly. For additional information call our office 864-676-1707 or the website http://www.latisse.com/. We have been waiting for the release of this drug and will be one of the first medical practices in the Upstate offering it.
