What Do Men Want? Top Cosmetic Procedures By Dr. Sutton Graham on July 07, 2020

At the Aesthetic Center, like nationwide, men most commonly have Botox to reduce facial wrinkles. The most common operation they choose is eyelid tuck (blepharoplasty) to remove bags and drooping skin.  Nationally men make up 8% of cosmetic surgery patients, 7% of minimally invasive procedure clients.  Figures for procedures nationally come from the ASPS.  We contribute anonymous data to their collection effforts.

Top Male Surgical Procedures

  • Nasal Surgery   50,000/yr
  • Eyelid Tuck  32,000
  • Liposuction  30,000
  • Breast Reduction  24,000
  • Hair Transplantation  17,000
  • Facelift Necklift  12,000
  • Dermabrasion  10,000
  • Otoplasty Ear Pinning  9,500
  • Chin Implant  9,400
  • Tummy Tuck  4,500

Top Non-Surgical Procedures

  • Botox  473,000/yr
  • Laser Hair Removal  174,000
  • Microdermabrasion  130,000
  • Fillers (Juvederm,Restylane)  100,000
  • Chemical Peel  100,000

Our practice experience is similar, although we offer alternatives to some of the above procedures.  Dr. Graham does not do rhinoplasty, but we do offer non-surgical rhinoplasty to inject fillers to improve nasal contour issues.  We don't do hair replacement, recommending instead that you consult your dermatologist for referrals.

We probably see more men for tummy tucks, often after major weight loss.

Male eyelid (blepharoplasty) is definitely a very common procedure, and probably the simplest and most benefical surgery you can choose to look your best.  Men are often surprised to learn that necklift and facelift leaves you looking very natural and masculine but less tired and droopy.

Gynecomastia removal, AKA male breast reduction, is another very benefical surgery when no amount of gym hours or weight loss will remove the man-boob or tighten loose skin.

Otoplasty is the treatment of overly prominent ears.  This is one of few elective cosmetic operations done on children, because of the life-long benefits.  When done on adults, it can be done under only local anesthesia.

Deficient chin can be rather easily be corrected by insertion of a firm silicone implant.  This restores a better man's profile.

Downtime for almost all surgical procedures is one week or less (back to work) and three weeks (back to exercise).
