BOTOX

Want to achieve younger-looking, wrinkle-free skin without undergoing extensive or invasive procedures?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable treatment that can revitalize your face without the need for surgery.

See how Dr. Sutton Graham, Dr. Beth Baines Brown, and our injectors in Greenville, SC, can improve your appearance.

What Is BOTOX Cosmetic?

BOTOX Cosmetic, more commonly referred to as BOTOX, is short for botulinum toxin. It's an FDA-approved protein that relaxes the muscles in your face that cause wrinkles. BOTOX Cosmetic has been trusted by patients and practitioners for over 20 years.

The treatment is injected into the muscles to both prevent the formation and minimize the appearance of wrinkles. BOTOX can help our Greenville patients enjoy smoother, healthier-looking skin for up to four months and can be administered in as little as 20 minutes.

What Can BOTOX Treat?

Botulinum toxin smooths out moderate to severe wrinkles for completely natural-looking results. Our injectors commonly use BOTOX to treat cosmetic concerns in the facial area, including:

  • Deep creases across the forehead
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Crow's feet around the upper and lower eyelids
  • Mouth and lip lines

Curious about how long it takes to work? You may notice the results of botulinum toxin injections as quickly as 24 to 48 hours after treatment.

Preparing for Treatment

Before your visit to our Greenville, SC, plastic surgery office, avoid blood-thinning medications to reduce the potential of adverse side effects.

Injecting the Botulinum Toxin

A member of our experienced staff will inject the botulinum toxin into the facial muscle with a very fine needle.

Continuing With Your Day

BOTOX sessions typically take under 20 minutes to complete, so they can conveniently fit into your schedule. Additionally, they require no downtime. Avoid touching the injection site, because this can cause the botulinum toxin to migrate to other areas of the face.

Enjoying the Results

You can expect to see the results of your treatment in a few days, but the full range of cosmetic benefits may take about two weeks to become apparent.

Make Your Results Last Extend the Benefits of BOTOX

/

The cosmetic benefits of BOTOX can last for several months, gradually wearing off over time. To extend the results and prevent the reappearance of unwanted lines and wrinkles, patients should request another session of BOTOX injections before the effects of the previous treatment wear off.

Potential Side Effects

BOTOX Cosmetic is a safe and effective treatment, but there is a potential for side effects like drooping or redness at the injection site. Common side effects of BOTOX treatment include:

  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Swelling
  • Pain or discomfort
  • Headaches
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Nausea
  • Drooping eyelid or eyebrow
  • Crooked eyebrow
  • Facial drooping

Though you may encounter some minor side effects after receiving the toxin, the potential for serious side effects is significantly lowered when your injections are administered by an experienced and licensed MD or nurse injector. We're always here if you have questions or concerns as well.

Restylane

Restylane® is a family of FDA-approved fillers. With Restylane, we can add volume to the tear troughs under your eyes for a more vibrant appearance. Treatment takes 30 minutes and you may only need touch-up treatments once or twice a year.

Facial Fat Transfer

Some people may be better candidates for a facial fat transfer, a procedure that moves fat from one area of the body to the face. Dr. Graham can use fat from your back, thighs, or abdomen and inject it into the areas of your face that need more volume. For some patients this may be a preferable treatment than other injectables because it uses your own body tissue, meaning there is a decreased risk of allergic reaction.

FAQ About BOTOX

Patient experience comes first at our office. To make sure you understand all you need to know about BOTOX in Greenville, we've already answered some common questions for you.

Q. What is the difference between BOTOX and fillers?

A. Though BOTOX and fillers like Restylane are both injectable treatments, they target different goals. Like Xeomin or Dysport, BOTOX relaxes your muscles to smooth wrinkles and soften fine lines. Fillers, on the other hand, add volume to areas like your cheeks, lips, or dark undereye circles.

Q. Is BOTOX permanent?

A. No, BOTOX is not permanent — which is one of its big advantages, especially when compared to treatments like a facelift. Typically, it wears off every three or four months, allowing patients to adjust their dosages as necessary, or even stop entirely.

Q. Can I work out after receiving BOTOX?

A. After your BOTOX application, you should avoid strenuous activities for the next 24 hours, including workouts. That way, you can prevent the BOTOX from affecting areas beyond your targeted muscles. Other than that, you can continue with your day as normal.

Q. Can you get BOTOX while pregnant?

A. Your safety is our utmost priority, so we will never recommend BOTOX if you're not a good candidate. Currently, the advised course of action is to stop using BOTOX when you are pregnant. Additionally, it's usually recommended that new mothers refrain from BOTOX treatment if they are nursing.

I have been to many injectors in the past for Botox and filler, but none have come close to the professionalism and expertise of Cat Crain. Cat spent a large part of my appointment really getting to understand my goals and facial structure to create optimal outcomes from the injections. Cat was very clear about my follow up steps and even followed up with me after the appointment to make sure I was happy with the results. Overall, am amazing experience!
