Skin and Facial Procedures
The injectors at the Aesthetic Center are skilled in injecting both dermal fillers and wrinkle reducing agents to provide a youthful and more refreshed look. Another option for treating volume loss and collagen production includes Sculptra Aesthetic. The Aesthetic Center also provides Kybella, an FDA approved injection for under the chin fat reduction. Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport work by paralyzing the nerves that innervate the muscles in the face. Once the facial muscles have stopped moving, creases in the skin are able to heal and soften. Products such as Botox and Dysport are often times used for prevention, as well as maintaining wrinkle reduction. It is important to note that the wrinkle reducing effects of Botox and Dysport are not permanent and will fade over time. Regularly scheduled appointments every 3 months will ensure smooth and wrinkle free skin.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers
Hyaluronic Acid fillers are a non-permanent way for patients to smooth facial lines and folds as well as correct volume loss. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring compound found in the human body. Once the HA gel is injected into areas of volume loss, its hydrophilic properties cause a temporary plumping action. Areas where HA fillers are appropriate include “parentheses” lines that form around the mouth and nose, vertical lip lines, and the corners of the mouth.

Sculptra Aesthetic is a poly-L-lactic acid treatment (different than HA fillers). Once Sculptra is injected it works deep in the skin to stimulate collagen production. Collagen reinforces the skin and restores volume. As collagen is depleted, the skin is unable to maintain elasticity and moisture. Patients who choose Sculptra should anticipate several sessions (on average 3 treatments over the course of a few months). Sculptra can address the underlying cause of facial aging and subtly rejuvenate your face over time.
Kybella is a treatment specifically for submental fullness, often called fat under the chin. Deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body, is injected under the chin and destroys fat cells. The fat is then processed through the body’s own natural metabolism. While most patients experience immediate swelling some may experience bruising and numbness.
Laser and Energy Treatments
The Aesthetic Center uses the advanced technology of the SCITON Laser. ClearScan, SkinTyte, Contour TRL, and Broadband Light therapy are used to address unwanted hair, acne, vascular lesion such as spider vein or rosacea, and hyperpigmentation.
Broad Band Light (BBL)/Intensed Pulse Light (IPL)
BBL delivers light energy to the upper layers of skin. Heat is absorbed causing stimulation of skin cells to regenerate new collagen. BBL can treat pigmented skin caused by sun damage, vascular lesions such as small blood vessels), acne, skin firmness, uneven skin texture. This procedure is noninvasive with no downtime. You will be able to return to work and reapply makeup. Pigmented areas that are treated with BBL will initially darken then fade and flake off at a later stage.
Forever Young Program
Patients that maintain consistent BBL treatments will experience smoother skin, reduction in fine lines, and fading of uneven pigmentation. Participating in the Forever Young Program allows patients to receive quarterly treatments at a complimentary rate.
Through thermolysis and broad band light, dermal collagen is heated and denatured. This process initiates the healing process in turn stimulating new collagen grow which leads to skin firmness. The procedure delivers rapid pulses of energy to the treated area. Through a cooling mechanism, the outer skin is protected. Patients may experience some mild redness after the procedure but can expect no downtime. The recommended treatment plan includes monthly treatments for 4 months in order to allow the collagen foundation of your skin to rebuild and strengthen.
Using laser energy, the Aesthetic Center can precisely treat visible spider veins and broken capillaries. Patients experiencing redness, rosacea, facial veins or spider veins will greatly benefit from this treatment. Vessels are denatured by the pulse of energy and then reabsorbed by your body over time. Slight swelling and possible bruising may occur due to injury to the vessel wall.
A laser re-surfacing peel is beneficial to those patients experiencing deep wrinkles (especially around the eyes and mouth), actinic keratosis, and poor skin tone/texture. A computer guided scanner moves the laser beam within the targeted area. Recovery time depends on the depth of peel. Patients choosing shallow peels can anticipate 4 days before returning to normal activities. For deep laser peels an anesthetic will be prescribed and local injections will be administered. Realistic healing time for a deep peel will be discussed at your consultation.
Dermaplaning is a mechanical exfoliation of the dead surface cells. It reveals healthier cells and products are able to better penetrate the skin. In the process of dermaplaning, velous hair (peach fuzz) is removed. The hair will gradually reappear as before and will not cause hair to grow in excess. Patients that are dermaplaned regularly claim their skin has more glow and that makeup goes on much smoother. Dermaplane can be done monthly. It can also be combined with additional treatments such as a chemical peel. There is no downtime if dermaplaning is done as a standalone treatment.
TCA Blue Peel
An advance chemical peel that uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA) to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and rough skin. The TCA penetrates the skin causing a sloughing of dead skin to peel off. Lay the foundation for more optimal results with prepping the skin 4 to 6 weeks prior to the peel with the OBAGI NNU-DERM System.
The TCA peel is an excellent option for African American and dark skinned patients.
