Look and Feel Your Best with a Tummy Tuck

Our Greenville tummy tuck patients seek treatment because it can provide:

An Enhanced Figure

Also known as abdominoplasty, this procedure helps patients achieve a slimmer figure and increased self-esteem after their treatment and recovery. This opens doors to enjoy activities and wear clothing that once would have felt impossible.

Long-Lasting Results

The results from abdominoplasty can last a lifetime with proper maintenance through a healthy diet and exercise. We can combine treatment with liposuction, producing comprehensive results for patients wishing to address excess fat around the abdomen.

Repaired Abdominal Muscles

Women can experience loose abdominal muscles after pregnancy, which causes the stomach to stick out. Our plastic surgeon can repair muscles along the abdominal wall and address excess skin to give you the tightened appearance you desire.

Refine Your Figure after Massive Weight Loss
With Abdominoplasty

Losing substantial weight can be exciting. However, many potential Spartanburg tummy tuck patients are disappointed with their results because their skin has significantly stretched out. This can result in loose skin that prevents them from having the waistline they desire.

Fortunately, a tummy tuck can be performed to refine the area, allowing patients to achieve the toned abdomen they have worked hard for through weight loss. This treatment is also a great option for mothers who are unhappy with their post-baby body.

We Offer Additional Options For More Substantial Results

At our Greenville plastic surgery office, we partner directly with patients. Whether you want a more in-depth tummy tuck or you want to address other areas like your breasts, our plastic surgeon can determine a custom plan just for you with:

Am I the Right Candidate For Abdominoplasty?

Rest assured, Dr. Graham will only proceed with your tummy tuck if you're a good candidate. Some of the qualities he will look for include:

Good General Health

Your health is an important consideration for surgery because certain conditions like autoimmune diseases and smoking can increase your risk of complications.

A Stable Weight

You should be committed to a healthy diet and exercise to prevent significant weight gain. For these reasons, you should also wait until after you are finished having children to undergo abdominoplasty at our Greenville office.

Commitment to Diet and Exercise

Typically, we recommend that patients first try diet and exercise to achieve their desired figure, and that they remain consistent with both after treatment. However, plastic surgery is an excellent option to achieve what lifestyle changes cannot.

Unhappiness with Your Waistline

Whether due to aging, pregnancy, weight loss, or simply stubborn fat accumulation, a tummy tuck or liposuction is typically recommended to patients who are genuinely unhappy with the size and shape of their waistline.

Realistic Expectations

Setting unrealistic expectations can leave you disappointed. Discuss any questions with your doctor and educate yourself about the procedure beforehand to set realistic expectations.

The Tummy Tuck Procedure What to Expect

The abdominoplasty procedure is usually performed in less than three hours.

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our Greenville office, Dr. Graham will conduct a thorough evaluation to learn about your cosmetic goals. He will walk you through the procedure, techniques he uses, and where the incisions will be located. You can also preview your anticipated results during this appointment.

Anesthesia

To begin the process, our plastic surgeon will administer general anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Patients usually have no recollection of the surgery and are in a sleep-like state.

Incisions

Dr. Graham carefully places a horizontal incision in the area across the hips and below the belly button. He may create a second incision if muscles along the abdominal wall will be tightened during the procedure.

Modifications

Excess skin and fat are removed from the area to create your slim, sculpted abdomen. Any separated muscles are repaired during this stage as well, and a new opening may be created for the belly button.

Final Touches

To complete the process, the skin is pulled down, and any excess skin is trimmed away to ensure a flat midsection. The area is then sutured into place.

Recovery

Patients can rest as long as needed in our recovery area and are typically able to return home the same day. Our plastic surgeon will provide detailed post-operative instructions to ensure a seamless healing experience.

FAQs About Tummy Tuck

Can a tummy tuck help me lose weight?

No — while tummy tucks do create a more contoured abdomen, they are not designed to help you reach your goal weight. In fact, to qualify for abdominoplasty, you will actually need to be within 10 to 15 pounds of your ideal weight.

How can I know if my abdominal muscles have separated?

Do your stomach muscles have a space in between them? Does your stomach stick out? You may have separated abdominal muscles. This often happens to women who have had children. Other potential signs may include pain throughout the lower back and pelvic region, as well as incontinence and trouble with physical activities.

Can men get a tummy tuck?

Yes, absolutely. Patients of all genders who want a slimmer stomach area can consider abdominoplasty. In 2022, around 3,463 men decided to get a tummy tuck, according to the ASPS. That number also rose by 39% from 2019 to 2022.
