Breast Reduction: Case 30 (30149)

Description

This 22 year old woman had numerous symptoms caused by her large sagging breasts. She consulted Dr. Graham about an effective solution - breast reduction. She was in a 36 DDD bra, and hoped for 36 C cup. Her left was significantly larger than her right breast. She had large areolas (wide diameter), with normal nipples. She suffered daily with slumped posture, embarrassment, difficult clothing fit and interference with exercise. She experienced pain in her shoulders, upper back and the base of the neck. She also had extra fullness on the sides of the chest, beyond the breasts. We advised reduction mammaplasty, including lift and areola reduction, and liposuction of the lateral chest areas. We discussed the slight possibility of interference with later breast feeding, although the technique used maintains the connection of the nipple, milk ducts and gland tissue. Much more tissue was removed from the left breast (although she is still a little larger on the left post-op). She found she did not need narcotic pain medicine after surgery. She did not lose natural nipple sensation. She was very happy after her procedure, and was enjoying her bathing suit (tanning).
